Burnley striker makes £18m Watford switch

Watford have signed Andre Gray for a club record £18million.

The Hornets had two bids for the 26-year-old striker rejected by the Clarets before a fee was agreed, with the player refusing to sign a new contract at Turf Moor.

A statement on the Watford FC website read: “Watford FC is delighted to announce the signing of striker Andre Gray for a club record transfer fee.

“The 26-year-old moves to Vicarage Road from fellow Premier League side Burnley on a five-year deal.”

Gray netted nine goals in 26 games for Burnley last season and Watford’s new boss Marco Silva will be hoping his scoring streak continues as the Hornets prepare for what is likely to be a difficult Premier League season after managing to avoid the drop last term.
