England won’t be seeded for World Cup Finals draw

England have risen up to 12th in the world rankings, but still won’t be one of the seeded teams in Pot One when the draw for next year’s World Cup Finals in Russia takes place.

Hosts Russia, Germany, Brazil, Portugal, Argentina, Belgium, Poland and France make up the top-seeded teams, while England and Spain miss out.

Despite failing to qualify for the finals, Scotland have jumped 14 places, from 43rd to 29th. Wales dropped one place to 14th after failing to qualify. Northern Ireland also dropped three places down the rankings to 23rd, but the Republic of Ireland are up eight places to 26th.

However, neither Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland will be seeded for tomorrow’s play-off draw.
