Liverpool put £80m price tag on Coutinho?

Barcelona appear determined to get their man, as talks continue to sign the Brazilian midfielder.

After having an offer of £72m rejected last week, the Spanish club are continuing their attempts to sign Coutinho and have been in talks with Philippe Coutinho’s representatives and Liverpool Football Club in London on Tuesday, according to the reliable Chris Bascombe in the Telegraph.

The Daily Star are going one step further, claiming that Liverpool are prepared to sell for a ‘good transfer figure’ believed to be in the region of £80m.

It was initially thought that Barcelona’s offer last week was merely to test the water and, once rejected, they would wait until next year to renew their interest.

However, since then Neymar’s future has become uncertain, with a possible move to PSG on the cards. The Brazilian striker has reportedly told Barca that he would stay if they sign Coutinho. It’s unlikely that a club like Barcelona would allow themselves to be dictated to by any player, however talented, but if that is true then it would explain why the club are wanting to continue talks with Liverpool and could well mean they make a bid that is too good to turn down.
