Arsene Wenger has spoken about his dilemma about whether or not to sign a new contract with Arsenal.
“I’ve been there for so long that you always wonder, can you still take the team to the next level?” the Gunners boss said on French TV. “I’ve been at Arsenal many years and last season we struggled a lot.
“This year we won our first game, we weren’t as good in the second match and then we had a catastrophic performance.
“But now we have to recover and, as always in a time of crisis, you have to win your next game.”
Arsenal finished fifth last season – the first time they’ve finished outside the top four since Wenger arrived at the club in 1996. Missing out on Champions League football is certainly a step in the wrong direction, but the club have faith in the Frenchman’s ability to turn around the fortunes. Let’s hope the fans do too, because some of the demonstrations at the Emirates last season were embarrasing.
