Sheffield United Football Club is a professional football club based in South Yorkshire. Founded on March 22, 1889, as an offshoot of Sheffield United Cricket Club, the club has played its home games at Bramall Lane since its inception.

The club is historically significant, being the first to achieve promotion from the Second to the First Division and one of few to have won all four professional divisions in English football. United were crowned English League champions in 1897–98 and have won the FA Cup four times (1899, 1902, 1915, 1925).

Their main rivals are Sheffield Wednesday, against whom they contest the fiercely competitive Steel City derby. The club is known for its traditional red and white striped shirts with black shorts, and its strong connection to the city’s cutlery and steelmaking heritage, hence the “Blades” nickname.
