Chelsea duo join Dortmund

Chelsea have let Carney Chukwuemeka and Aaron Anselmino join Borussia Dortmund.

21-year-old Chukwuemeka, who was on loan at Dortmund last season, is set to sign for around £24m with a decent sell-on clause. He wanted the move back to Dortmund despite interest from RB Leipzig and is nearly done with the switch.

This sale means Chelsea will have bagged £273.4m from outgoing transfers—almost matching their £277m spend on new signings. UEFA told Chelsea they need to finish this window with more money coming in than going out if they want their fresh faces eligible for the Champions League, after being hit with a £26.7m fine for breaking financial rules and overspending on wages.

As for Anselmino, he’s joining the Bundesliga club on loan for the season, with no buy option included. Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca told the Argentine youngster he needed more game time, especially with loads of competition for places at Stamford Bridge, while Dortmund need cover with injuries to Niklas Sule, Emre Can, and Nico Schlotterbeck.
