Man Utd captain Bruno Fernandes faces month on sidelines

Ruben Amorim has confirmed that Bruno Fernandes suffered a soft tissue injury during the loss to Aston Villa on Sunday, further depleting a thin United squad.

The Portuguese playmaker was substituted at half-time during the 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa after complaining of a hamstring issue.

Amorim admitted in his press conference today that the injury to his talisman could not have come at a worse time, as the club is already missing seven senior players through a combination of injury, suspension, and international duty.

The loss of Fernandes leaves a massive creative void in the United midfield.

During the second half at Villa Park, Amorim was forced to utilize a makeshift pairing of Lisandro Martinez and 18-year-old debutant Jack Fletcher.

While Amorim insisted that the club would not engage in “panic buying” when the January window opens, he acknowledged that the squad depth is being tested to its absolute limit.

With crucial matches against Newcastle and Liverpool on the horizon, the manager must now find a way to maintain offensive output without his most influential player.
