Vítor Pereira in talks as Nottingham Forest sack Sean Dyche

Nottingham Forest have dismissed manager Sean Dyche following a disappointing stalemate with Wolverhampton Wanderers, with Vítor Pereira emerging as the favourite to take over.

Evangelos Marinakis made the decision to sack Sean Dyche late on Wednesday night, shortly after a goalless draw at home to bottom-placed Wolves.

Despite Forest registering 35 shots on goal, they were unable to find a breakthrough and were met with a chorus of boos at the final whistle. The result leaves the club just three points clear of the relegation zone with twelve games remaining.

Vítor Pereira is reportedly already in discussions with the club hierarchy. Pereira, who previously managed Wolves and Olympiacos, is seen as a survival specialist by the Forest board.

If appointed, he would become the fourth permanent manager of a chaotic season for the East Midlands club, following the departures of Nuno Espirito Santo, Ange Postecoglou, and now Dyche.

Dyche admitted after the match that he understood the “noise” around his position, appearing resigned to his fate before the official confirmation of his exit arrived in the early hours of Thursday morning.
