Aston Villa cruise into Europa League semi-finals

Aston Villa produced a clinical performance at Villa Park on Thursday night to dismantle Bologna 4-0, securing a massive 7-1 aggregate victory and a place in the UEFA Europa League semi-finals.

The night belonged to Ollie Watkins, who scored his 100th goal for the club in the 16th minute.

Watkins is the first Villa player to reach the century mark since Peter McParland in 1961, and his milestone goal set the tone for a dominant European evening.

Despite Morgan Rogers seeing a first-half penalty saved, Villa remained relentless.

Emi Buendia doubled the lead shortly after the missed spot-kick, and Rogers eventually got his name on the scoresheet with a powerful finish before the interval.

Ezri Konsa added a fourth in the 89th minute to cap off a historic night for Unai Emery’s side.

This is only the third time the club has reached a major European semi-final, and they now prepare for an all-English showdown against Nottingham Forest for a place in the final.

Emery made three changes to the side that drew with Forest last weekend, bringing Buendia, Konsa, and Emi Martinez back into the starting eleven to ensure the Italian side never had a foothold in the tie.
