Coventry City Latest
Founded in 1883 as Singers FC, Coventry City Football Club boasts a proud, resilient identity rooted in the heart of the West Midlands.
Famously nicknamed the Sky Blues, the club transformed English football with innovations like the first all-seater stadium at their historic Highfield Road ground.
The defining moment in the club’s history arrived in 1987. Under the guidance of John Sillett and George Curtis, Coventry captured the FA Cup in a thrilling 3-2 extra-time victory over Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley Stadium.
Following a 34-year stay in the top flight, the club faced two decades of financial turbulence and stadium disputes, even slipping briefly into League Two.
However, a remarkable resurgence saw the team climb back through the divisions. Now playing at the fully acquired Coventry Building Society Arena, the Sky Blues are back in the Premier League, ready to write the next chapter of their long history.
