Aston Villa Football Club is a historic football team based in Birmingham, founded in 1874 by members of the Villa Cross Wesleyan Chapel. The club plays its home matches at Villa Park, where it has been based since 1897. Aston Villa was a pioneer in English football: its director, William McGregor, was the driving force behind the creation of the Football League in 1888.

Villa is one of England’s most successful clubs, boasting seven First Division/Premier League titles, seven FA Cups, five League Cups, and one European Cup (now UEFA Champions League), which they won in 1982.
