AFC Bournemouth is a professional football club based in Dorset, currently competing in the Premier League.

Founded in 1899 as Boscombe, the club adopted its present name in 1971. Nicknamed “The Cherries”, Bournemouth play at Dean Court, also known as the Vitality Stadium, one of the smallest grounds in the Premier League.

Bournemouth joined the Football League in 1923 and spent much of their history in the lower divisions, with most notable successes coming in recent decades.

Under the management of Eddie Howe, the club achieved a remarkable rise through the English football pyramid, winning promotion to the Premier League for the first time in 2015. After five years at this level, they were relegated but returned to the top flight in 2022.
