Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior has moved quickly to dismiss reports that Alejandro Garnacho will be sold this summer.
Speaking to reporters ahead of Chelsea’s crucial trip to Brighton, the boss was firm in his stance, dismissing the rumours as unfounded.
The head coach questioned the source of the reports, stating that his primary focus is helping the 21-year old reach the potential that saw Chelsea move for him less than a year ago.
However, Rosenior’s public show of support comes at a time when his own position is under scrutiny; Chelsea have lost their last four league matches without scoring a single goal, including a 1-0 defeat to Garnacho’s former club, Manchester United, just last Saturday.
The statistics tell a difficult story for the winger. Garnacho has managed only one Premier League goal in 22 appearances for the Blues this season.
Critics have argued that he has struggled to adapt to life in West London after a tumultuous exit from Old Trafford, where he reportedly fell out with manager Ruben Amorim.
