Chelsea goalkeeper seeking January move to save World Cup hopes

Chelsea’s backup goalkeeper, Filip Jorgensen, is reportedly desperate to secure more playing time in the upcoming January transfer window to protect his place in the Denmark national team squad for the 2026 World Cup.

The 23-year-old has been a firm second-choice at Stamford Bridge, significantly limiting his minutes this season.

The Daily Mail reports today that Jorgensen is “itching to play” after being informed by the Danish national team coaching staff that regular game time is crucial for him to be considered for the World Cup roster next summer.

Jorgensen has been unable to displace Robert Sánchez as the club’s number one this season, despite having played a key role in their 2024-25 European run.
