Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has raised the possibility that midfielder Cole Palmer could make an earlier-than-expected return from his toe injury to face Arsenal next weekend.
“We don’t know when, but for sure soon. He’s already on the pitch and touching the ball,” he said. “The feeling is good.
“We are focused on tomorrow’s game. The last time I spoke with Cole was yesterday after the session to ask how he was feeling. He was feeling good.”
Maresca had previously ruled Palmer out of the fixture, but the midfielder has already returned to light training with a special protective boot.
While he will miss tonight’s Champions League match against Barcelona, Maresca is no longer completely dismissing the chance of his availability for the crucial Premier League derby on Sunday.
