Cole Palmer hat-trick inspires Chelsea rout at Wolverhampton Wanderers

Cole Palmer scored three first-half goals, including two penalties, as Chelsea thrashed bottom-of-the-table Wolves 3-1 at Molineux.

Liam Rosenior became only the second English manager in history to win his first four Premier League games as his Chelsea side dismantled a struggling Wolves.

The Blues were dominant from the outset, with Palmer opening the scoring from the penalty spot in the 13th minute after Matt Doherty fouled Joao Pedro.

Palmer converted a second spot-kick on 35 minutes before completing a sensational 25-minute hat-trick with a composed finish from a Marc Cucurella cross.

While Wolves managed a consolation goal through Toluwalase Arokodare in the second half, the result was never in doubt.

Rosenior praised Palmer as “unstoppable” but expressed frustration that his side failed to maintain a clean sheet.

The victory keeps Chelsea in fifth place, just one point behind Manchester United in the final Champions League spot.

For Wolves, the defeat leaves them rooted to the foot of the table and searching for a spark to ignite a survival bid that looks increasingly unlikely as the season progresses.
