Gylfi Sigurdsson will very soon be announced as an Everton player.
The Swansea City midfielder has passed a medical at the Toffees on Wednesday and is now set to complete his £45m move after weeks of wrangling.
“The latest is that he had his medical this morning,” said Everton boss Ronald Koeman. “What I heard from the doctor was no problem. I don’t know if still he needs to sign but I saw him in the Blue!
“I will talk to Gylfi this afternoon. He will not be involved tomorrow. Maybe for Monday. Let’s wait and see how the fitness is.
“We worked a long time to get this deal in and he was one of the key players to bring in. We knew would lose [Romelu] Lukaku for this season and we need players who bring productivity to the team.
“He is the type of player with a lot of productivity. In my opinion he is one of the best in the Premier League.”
The Swans have been holding out for £50m, rejecting a £40m offer from Leicester and have now accepted a £5m shortfall on their asking price.
Sigurdsson will become Everton’s most expensive signing, eclipsing the £31.8m they paid Chelsea for striker Romelu Lukaku in 2014.
