Everton welcome Barkley back with open arms

Ross Barkley is back in the Everton squad for their Europa League campaign.

The 23-year-old midfielder walked away from a £35m move to Chelsea in the final minutes of Transfer Deadline Day and, despite being injured, has been named in Ronald Koeman’s 27-man squad handed into UEFA today.

With Barkley now into the final year of his Everton contract, the Chelsea may try again in January. If so, he wouldn’t be cup-tied for Champions League games, assuming Antonio Conte’s team will still be in the competition.
