Arne Slot has confirmed that Florian Wirtz has taken a “next step” in his recovery from a back injury.
The German international returned to action with a brief cameo appearance recently and is expected to be part of the Liverpool squad that travels to Turkey for the Champions League round of 16 second leg against Galatasaray.
While the return of Wirtz is a major boost, Liverpool remain without several long-term absentees including Alexander Isak, Wataru Endo, and Conor Bradley.
Slot is due to speak to the media in Istanbul later tonight, where he is expected to provide further updates on Alexis Mac Allister, who has been the subject of recent transfer speculation linking him with a move to Real Madrid.
