After failing to sign Naby Keita from RB Leipzig for £65m, Liverpool have expressed an interest in Jean Michaël Seri from Nice.
The 25-year-old midfielder has attracted a lot of interest this summer, including Paris St Germain and Barcelona but, with both big clubs already spending big already this transfer window, Liverpool may now be favourites.
According to The Guardian, officials understood to have made contact with Nice in recent days to enquire over his availability.
The Mirror are reporting that a £36.3m price tag has been slapped on him by the French club – a fee that the Reds will surely be happy to fork out.
However, this may well be a move to encourage Leipzig back to the table. Keita’s £45m release clause can be triggered next summer and with the player determined to go no matter what, they may well be tempted to rethink Liverpool’s higher offer and spend it on a quality replaceement themselves rather than wait out for £20m less next year.
