Manchester United have identified Brighton’s Carlos Baleba as a primary target for the summer transfer window as Casemiro prepares to depart.
The Red Devils are reportedly eager to overhaul their midfield department at the end of the season, with the legendary Brazilian international Casemiro confirmed to be leaving upon the expiry of his contract.
Baleba, the 22-year-old Cameroon international, has emerged as the preferred choice for United’s recruitment team, though Brighton are expected to demand a fee in excess of £100 million.
Despite the hefty price tag, sources suggest Old Trafford is Baleba’s preferred destination.
United are also monitoring Newcastle’s Sandro Tonali as a potential alternative, but the Brighton man’s age and physical profile fit the long-term vision of sporting director Jason Wilcox.
With United currently fourth in the table and chasing Champions League football, securing a world-class holding midfielder is seen as the most crucial piece of business for the 2026/27 campaign.
