Morgan Rogers leads Aston Villa to tenth straight win

Aston Villa winger Morgan Rogers scored two clinical goals to defeat Manchester United and keep Unai Emery’s side within three points of the league summit.

Aston Villa’s remarkable transformation under Unai Emery reached a new milestone today as they secured their tenth consecutive victory in all competitions.

In a high-stakes clash at Villa Park, Morgan Rogers proved to be the difference-maker, scoring in both halves to dismantle Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United.

Rogers opened the scoring late in the first half with a moment of individual brilliance, weaving past Leny Yoro before curling a strike into the far corner. Although Matheus Cunha equalized for the visitors in stoppage time, Rogers pounced on a loose ball in the 57th minute to restore the lead.

This victory ensures that Villa will spend Christmas just three points behind league leaders Arsenal, fuelling genuine belief in a first league title since 1981.

The atmosphere at Villa Park has become one of the most intimidating in the country, with the club suffering only one home defeat throughout the entirety of 2025.

Emery plays down in-form Villa

Emery, who celebrated wildly on the touchline, noted that while the record is historic, the focus remains on maintaining the tactical discipline that has seen them rise from a dismal start to the campaign.

“We have played a lot of teams like Arsenal and Manchester City,” he said after the game. “Of course we beat them here, but they have massive things tactically with players on a high level.

“We are not contenders. We are here because we are competing fantastically. The players are really focusing each match with what we are trying to set and being consistent. But we are not contender to be there.

“Of course we are being consistent in more or less three years, and getting into European positions, but we must continue to be humble. And understanding how we can get points like we did. We want to keep the same level by being intelligent, competitive, consistent and demanding. Through it we are here.”

With seven straight top-flight wins, Villa are currently the most in-form team in the Premier League.
