Spurs face historic relegation threat

The draw between Crystal Palace and West Ham at Selhurst Park on Monday night has placed Tottenham Hotspur under immense psychological pressure.

While the Hammers moved two points clear of the drop zone, Spurs remain mired in 18th place on 31 points.

The North London side has now gone 15 league matches without a win, the second longest winless streak in the club’s history, and they remain the only team in the division without a single victory in the 2026 calendar year.

Newly-appointed manager Roberto De Zerbi is facing a monumental task to keep the club up with only five games left to play.

The situation is particularly stark given that Spurs won the Europa League just last season – a relegation now would represent one of the most dramatic collapses in modern English football history.

Pundits have described the current atmosphere at the club as a “managerial crisis,” as De Zerbi’s complex tactical system has yet to produce results with a squad that appears to be lacking in confidence.

The club’s next fixtures are being viewed as “judgement days” that will determine if they can avoid their first relegation since 1978.
