Sunderland and Leeds United played out a relentless 1-1 draw at the Stadium of Light to close out 2025. The hosts took the lead in the 28th minute through Simon Adingra, who curled home a clinical opener following a superb pass from Granit Xhaka.
Sunderland’s failure to convert further chances—including a Brian Brobbey header off the crossbar—proved costly. Just after halftime, Dominic Calvert-Lewin equalized from a low Brenden Aaronson cross, scoring in his sixth consecutive match.
Despite late pressure and a vital Trai Hume goal-line clearance, the spoils were shared. Sunderland remains 7th, while Leeds moves seven points clear of danger.
