Manchester City have reportedly placed Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca on a shortlist of candidates to replace Pep Guardiola if the Spaniard departs at the end of the season.
This interest comes after recent cryptic comments from the Italian manager regarding the hierarchy at Chelsea, fueling speculation about his long-term future in London.
“Worst 48 hours since I joined the club [before the match], because people didn’t support me and the team,” he told reporters after Saturday’s win over Everton.
“In general, in general. I love the fans and we are very happy with the fans.”
While Guardiola is currently under contract until 2027, internal whispers suggest he may consider stepping down as early as the summer of 2026.
Maresca, who previously worked under Guardiola as an assistant at City, is seen as a natural tactical successor who understands the club’s philosophy.
