Chelsea have officially confirmed the appointment of Liam Rosenior as their new head coach, following the departure of Enzo Maresca earlier this week.
The 41-year-old Englishman arrives from French club Strasbourg, which shares the same ownership group as the West London side. Rosenior has signed an unprecedented contract that runs until 2032, signaling a significant commitment from the Chelsea hierarchy to find long-term stability after years of frequent managerial turnover.
In his first official statement, Rosenior expressed his pride in joining a club with a “unique spirit and a proud history of winning trophies.”
“I am extremely humbled and honoured to be appointed head coach of Chelsea Football Club,” Rosenior said.
“To be entrusted with this role means the world to me and I want to thank all involved for the opportunity and faith in undertaking this job. I will give everything to bring the success this club deserves.”
He will be joined at Stamford Bridge by his trusted assistants, Kalifa Cisse and Justin Walker. The move has been described by some analysts as a bold gamble, given Rosenior’s lack of previous Premier League managerial experience, but his success in Ligue 1 and his alignment with the BlueCo philosophy were reportedly the deciding factors.
The immediate task for Rosenior is to stabilize a squad that has struggled for consistency during the first half of the season.
Chelsea currently sit fifth in the table, and while they remain within striking distance of the Champions League places, the lack of a clear tactical identity was a major factor in Maresca’s exit.
Rosenior is known for his progressive, possession-based style, and fans will be eager to see how he integrates the club’s expensive summer signings into his system. His first game in charge will be an FA Cup third-round tie, providing a relatively low-pressure environment to begin his tenure.
