Guardiola handed Dias boost ahead of crucial Newcastle trip

Pep Guardiola has received a major lift as Ruben Dias returned to full training following a month on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.

While the Portuguese defender is unlikely to start immediately, he could be included in the matchday squad for the pivotal trip to face Newcastle United tomorrow.

The match is a critical one for Manchester City, who are desperate to close the nine-point gap to league leaders Arsenal.

Newcastle, meanwhile, are looking to build on a spirited win over City earlier in the season.

Eddie Howe’s side is managing several injuries of its own, particularly in midfield, but remains a dangerous prospect at St James’ Park.

Reports also suggest that Newcastle are determined to hold onto Sandro Tonali this summer, despite intense interest from Manchester United and Arsenal, valuing the Italian international at close to £100 million.
