New Zealand secure historic World Cup draw against Iran

The opening round of Group G has delivered a massive shock at the Los Angeles Stadium.

A highly-disciplined New Zealand national team fought back to secure an incredible 2-2 draw against a heavily fancied Iran side, registering one of the most significant results in their footballing history.

The All Whites stunned the stadium in the sixth minute when Elijah Just found space to fire home the opening goal.

Iran responded with intent, turning the game on its head either side of half-time through goals from Ramin Rezaeian and Mohammad Mohebi.

However, New Zealand refused to buckle, and Just turned hero once more in the 54th minute, capitalizing on a defensive error to secure his brace and lock down a monumental point for his nation.
