An analysis of transfer market activity has revealed that Chelsea hold the unenviable title of the highest-spending club per Premier League point won since the turn of the decade. The statistical study compiled data from the past six years, focusing exclusively on top-flight clubs that have secured at least 200 points during that specific timeframe.
According to the data, the Stamford Bridge club has spent an astronomical total of €2.18 billion on player transfers since 2020. When balanced against the 400 league points they amassed during those seasons, the mathematical breakdown reveals a cost of roughly €5.45 million for every single point won. This figure places the West London side comfortably ahead of their domestic rivals in terms of financial outlay relative to on-field returns.
Tottenham Hotspur occupied the second spot on the list, spending €3.86 million per point won. Their overall expenditure reached €1.42 billion, a figure heavily-impacted by consecutive 17th-place finishes that severely restricted their points haul. Manchester United followed closely in third position, with an outlay of €3.04 million per point from a total spend of €1.26 billion.
By contrast, Manchester City demonstrated greater efficiency despite their massive total expenditure. Having secured four Premier League titles and a total of 568 points in this period, their cost per point stood at €2.62 million, placing them sixth overall. Meanwhile, current champions Arsenal proved even more efficient, occupying ninth place with a cost of €2.28 million per point won, demonstrating a more balanced correlation between heavy investment and trophy-winning success on the pitch.
