Trent Alexander-Arnold tempted by Chelsea move

Trent Alexander-Arnold could be tempted by a return to the Premier League, and Chelsea are ready to give him a way out of Real Madrid if he becomes available, Football Insider say.

The 28-year-old has slipped down the pecking order at the Bernabeu since Jose Mourinho took charge, and he’s been losing playing time. Several top clubs are keeping an eye on where things go from here, with next summer the window being talked about for a Premier League comeback.

Nothing’s imminent. It was reported on 27 October that he has no plans to leave Madrid right now and wants to fight for his place. It isn’t clear whether Chelsea would move in January or hold off until the summer, and no fee has been mentioned.

Liverpool have cropped up as a possible destination too, but the club aren’t interested in bringing him back. The way he left in 2025 hasn’t been forgotten.

Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown is the one pointing to Chelsea’s interest. His view is that Mourinho doesn’t rate Alexander-Arnold at right-back, and he adds that the defender has been left out of the England squad as well.

Liverpool won’t even consider taking him back, so you can see why Chelsea look a good fit. He’s not getting the minutes at Madrid, and a fresh start in the Premier League makes sense for him. Stamford Bridge would at least give him a proper chance to play.
