Arsenal in contact with Endrick over January move

Arsenal have stayed in touch with Endrick, and the Real Madrid forward’s camp are looking at a January exit, TEAMtalk say.

The 20-year-old has started one LaLiga game this season. He was left on the bench for the win over Barcelona, which didn’t go down well with him or his representatives. Real want to keep him and Jose Mourinho still rates him, but the minutes just aren’t there.

Endrick turned down approaches from several clubs last summer, Arsenal included. Mikel Arteta’s side are happy to offer him a fresh start in north London, although it all depends on how a deal is put together.

Arsenal would look at a loan with an option to buy, and they want that option so the move can become permanent. That’s where they differ from AC Milan and Roma, who also want him but would only take him on loan with no option. Madrid prefer that version, as it would copy his spell at Lyon last season and guarantee he comes back.

Real don’t want to sell him for good and believe he has a long-term future at the Bernabeu. Florentino Perez is a big fan, but he doesn’t pick the team.

Arsenal chased Morgan Rogers, Julian Alvarez, Yan Diomande and Vinicius Junior in the summer and landed none of them. They want a left-sided attacker and a centre-forward in January, and Endrick could do either job.

A loan with an option to buy is the only way this makes sense. Endrick has barely played, so spending big on him now is a gamble, and Arsenal need goals more than they need a project. But the option caps the risk, and he’d get the minutes he’s not getting in Madrid. If Real insist on a loan with no option, Arsenal should walk away.
