The Sunday Mirror claims that there is a four-way battle for the signature of Thomas Lemar. Arsenal, Liverpool, Man City and Barcelona are the four clubs said to be interested in the Monaco midfielder.
However, Man City appear to have done the majority of their transfer business already in this window and would be unlikely to pursue another midfielder for the sake of it. Barcelona, meanwhile, are now being linked with every footballer on the planet and 99% of transfer rumours involving the Catalan giants need to be taken with a large pinch of salt, this one included.
That leaves only Arsenal, who have already had three bids rejected for the 21-year-old Frenchman, and now Liverpool who may well be looking for options should Philippe Coutinho go to Barcelona, as is now almost certain.
The Mirror claim that ‘Wenger is ready to up his offer to £50m for Lemar’, which may well be enough to seal the deal before Liverpool officially declare their interest.
