The Sunday Express is running with the story that Barcelona are prepared to spend some of their Neymar cash on the Tottenham midfielder, Dele Alli
Spurs have had an extremely quiet transfer window so far. They’ve sold Kyle Walker to Man City for £50m, but otherwise have tried to hold onto all their key players who helped them to an impressive second place in the Premier League last season and haven’t felt the need to bolster the squad either.
But Barcelona have the muscle to put a bid together that would test Daniel Levy’s resiliance and also tempt Alli with a huge pay rise. That would throw the cat amongst the pigeons and force Spurs to look for a replacement in the final weeks of the window – historically a time when bad, expensive signings are made.
Spurs fans will be hoping that nothing comes of this rumour and the equilibrium at the club is maintained.
With £200m burning a hole in their pockets the Catalan giants are going to be linked with every decent footballer on the planet in the next few weeks!
