Bournemouth face “Basque Battle” to keep Andoni Iraola

Bournemouth are facing a fight to retain the services of manager Andoni Iraola as the international break begins.

Reports suggest that Athletic Bilbao have identified Iraola as their primary target to replace the outgoing Ernesto Valverde at the end of the season.

Iraola, a legendary figure at Bilbao from his playing days, is out of contract this summer and has yet to sign a new deal at the Vitality Stadium.

The Cherries’ hierarchy is understood to be working tirelessly to persuade the Spaniard to stay, especially given the club’s current form.

Bournemouth are unbeaten in their last eleven matches following a 2-2 draw with Manchester United and currently sit in 10th place, firmly in contention for European qualification.

Iraola is expected to inform the club of his decision regarding his future before their next match against Arsenal on 11 April.
