Clubs queueing up to sign Emre Can

It’s looking more and more likely that Emre Can will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season.

After failing to agree terms on a new deal at Anfield, the German midfielder will be allowed to leave when his current contract expires in the summer.

He is able to talk to potential new clubs from January and Juventus will no doubt be first to knock on his door on New Years Day.

“Emre Can is a name doing the rounds because his contract is running down,” said Juve chief executive Giuseppe Marotta.

“I won’t deny he is a player we too have monitored and many important clubs will try to close a deal over the next few weeks. We are tracking the situation, nothing more.”

Can’s agent was playing his cards close to his chest. “I concentrate on this season and let my agent handle all the rest,” he told the Echo.

“It is not about money, that’s all I can say. Yes I could (sign a pre-contract with another club), but tomorrow I could also sign for Liverpool. We’ll see.”

Borussia Dortmund are now the latest club to express an interest, with sporting director Michael Zorc telling Sky Deutschland that Can is “an excellent player. He is in the sights of the very, very large clubs of Europe.”

Our advice is to avoid getting anyone a Liverpool shirt with ‘Can 23’ on the back for Christmas.
