Michael Carrick identifies Adam Wharton as primary summer target

Manchester United have reportedly been told they must pay €95m to secure Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton this summer.

As the dust settles on a quiet January transfer window for Manchester United, eyes have already turned to a significant squad overhaul under interim manager Michael Carrick.

United have identified Wharton as their “superstar” midfield target for the summer, though they face a staggering valuation from the South London club.

Palace are reportedly demanding a fee in the region of ninety-five million euros to fend off a looming bidding war for the England international.

Carrick is expected to oversee a transition in the United engine room, with veteran Casemiro confirmed to be leaving at the end of his contract.

In addition to Wharton, the Red Devils are monitoring Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson and Brighton’s Carlos Baleba.

While United failed to beat Manchester City to the signing of Antoine Semenyo in January, the board is reportedly ready to back Carrick’s vision with substantial investment once the summer window opens.

The club is also keeping a close eye on Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven as a potential solution to their ongoing defensive issues.
