West Ham‘s struggles deepened on Tuesday night as they suffered a demoralizing home defeat to Nottingham Forest.
Despite taking an early lead through a Murillo own goal in the 13th minute, the Hammers were unable to capitalize on their advantage.
Forest found an equalizer in the 55th minute when Nicolas Dominguez headed home from a set-piece. The match remained tense until the final minutes when Alphonse Areola fouled Gibbs-White in the area.
The Forest captain stepped up to convert the spot-kick, moving his side seven points clear of the relegation zone. West Ham remain in 18th place, now seven points adrift of safety, as pressure reaches an all-time high on Nuno Espirito Santo.
