United stun Liverpool to secure Champions League return

Manchester United officially secured their return to the Champions League for the first time in two years with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The match began with a clinical opening from United, who found themselves 2-0 up within 15 minutes thanks to strikes from Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko.

Liverpool fought back in the second half, with Dominik Szoboszlai and Cody Gakpo capitalizing on defensive errors to level the score by the 56th minute.

However, the week belonged to Kobbie Mainoo. Fresh off signing a new five-year contract, the 21-year-old midfielder fired home the winning goal from outside the box in the 77th minute.

The result moves United six points clear of Liverpool and cements Michael Carrick’s status as a leading candidate for the permanent manager role.
