West Ham United outline fixture announcement plans ahead of Championship return

West Ham United have today finalized their internal media arrangements ahead of the official release of the EFL fixture list on Thursday, which will map out their upcoming campaign in the Championship.

The east London club are preparing for life in the second tier of English football for the first time since the 2011/12 season, following a painful relegation from the top flight.

The complete schedule of 46 league matches against 23 different opponents will be officially confirmed by league authorities at noon tomorrow, sparking a highly-anticipated logistical operation for the club’s traveling supporters.

In addition to the release of the league calendar, the Hammers will also discover their initial opponents in the Carabao Cup first round, with the regionalised draw scheduled to take place live on TV tomorrow afternoon.

West Ham have been assigned ball number 34 in the southern section of the draw, where they could potentially face a variety of local fixtures against lower-league opposition.

The club’s official statement emphasised that their first competitive fixture of the new season will take place on the weekend of August 14, with several opening matches already selected for live TV broadcast across digital channels.

The technical staff are eager to get the exact dates locked into their calendars to finalise their remaining pre-season friendly arrangements, which already include a high-profile overseas visit to face Scottish giants Rangers.
