Arsenal held at Brentford as title race narrows

A stubborn Brentford side held Arsenal to a 1-1 draw at the Gtech Community Stadium on Thursday night, cutting the Gunners’ lead at the top to four points.

Mikel Arteta’s side appeared to be back on track when Noni Madueke headed them into the lead just after the hour mark.

However, the Gunners were unable to sustain their advantage as Keane Lewis-Potter equalised ten minutes later following a trademark Brentford long-throw routine.

The result leaves Arsenal on 57 points, four ahead of Manchester City, as the pressure of the title run-in begins to take its toll.

The Gunners struggled for rhythm in a cagey first half, failing to record more than a single shot as the Bees remained disciplined.

Despite the introduction of Martin Odegaard at half-time providing more structure, Arsenal could not find a decisive second.

With Manchester City having won their game in hand against Fulham earlier in the week, the gap at the summit is now the tightest it has been since the turn of the year.
