Barcelona demand up front payment for Neymar

Barcelona appear to be resigned to losing their star player to Paris St Germain, but are determined not to make life easy for the French club, as was evident in an announcement on the club website.

The Catalan giants have told PSG to fork out the world record €220m (£198m) up front if they want Neymar and are already considering reporting PSG for breaching Financial Fair Play rules as they prepare for life without the Brazilian ace.

Neymar arrived at training on Wednesday with his father and agent, and told the club he wanted to leave. Barca manager Ernesto Valverde gave him permission not to train and to “sort out his future”.

It wasn’t long until Lionel Messi posted this farewell video on Instagram…

The words translate to ‘It was a great pleasure to have shared all these years with you my friend Neymar. I wish you good luck in this new stage of your life. See you tomorrow.’

Neymar’s departure will guarantee Philippe Coutinho transfer rumours will resurface and its quite likely that an increased bid may be too much for the Anfield club to resist.
