Manchester City have officially moved back to the summit of the Premier League following a tense 1-0 victory over Burnley at Turf Moor on Wednesday night.
The defending champions struggled to break down a resilient Burnley block for much of the evening, but a second-half strike ensured Pep Guardiola’s side secured the three points.
This result leaves City and Arsenal tied on 70 points and a goal difference of +37, but City now occupy first place by virtue of more goals scored (66 compared to Arsenal’s 63).
The match was a tactical battle of nerves, as Vincent Kompany’s Burnley side desperately fought to avoid a result that would leave them on the brink of relegation.
Despite the valiant effort, the defeat leaves Burnley in 19th place, 13 points adrift of safety with only four games remaining.
For City, the focus shifts to their game in hand, which remains the primary weapon in their pursuit of a fifth consecutive title.
